Mathieu was a late bloomer finding his love for health and fitness, only starting to seriously train at the age of 19 years old. Although very unfit in his teenage years, he still played basketball both high school and competitive levels, as well as baseball. After years of being overweight he had enough and began working out and immediately fell in love with the gym.
Bouncing through a few programs in college, Mat finally stumbled upon the Physical Fitness Management program at Cambrian College where he is currently completing his final year. He is a certified personal trainer through the International Sport Science Association (ISSA), which is where he is also currently writing his Sports Nutrition certification. Since beginning his weight training journey, he has competed in bodybuilding competitions, with his focus now targeted towards powerlifting.
Mat has experience with team training, developing off-season training for Chill’s OVA Volleyball program, the Nickel City Aquatics, as well as hockey dryland training. He’s also well equipped having taught bootcamps, group fitness classes and TRX.
“Since I first fell in love with fitness, I knew that I wanted to help others. Being unfit for most of my life, I know how hard it is to find the motivation to get started and go through with it. Not only is fitness my passion, but so is helping others achieve their goals in and outside of the gym. I will never stop learning and educating myself as I want to be the best I can be to help my clients be the best they can be.”
